Thieves Broke into a Texas Car Dealership while Power was Out, Stole Five Cars and 45 Keys

Someone stole five cars and nearly 45 keys from a used car dealership during the winter storms.

According to VP of Ancira Auto Group, April Ancira, the thieves used the “perfect storm” to take off with the vehicles.

Ancira said someone broke into the used auto lot sometime Wednesday morning before 6:30 a.m. They found out when their manager there pulled up and found the front door shattered and gates open.

“The perfect storm occurred for these guys,” Ancira said. “We are not going to have somebody watching the lot necessarily with nine-degree temperatures and unpassable roads.”

After surveying the lot, they found five cars missing and 45 keys stolen. Ancira says though it could cost them more than $100,000, they’re just glad no one was injured.

Unfortunately, because the power was out, there were no security cameras or alarms working. Because of unpassable roads, no one was watching the lot.

“In my heart I’m hoping maybe they’re using it for warmth somewhere and maybe they’ll come back,” Ancira said. “But in reality, we probably know that they’re in pieces at this time.”

The five cars stolen were a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2018 Dodge Charger SXT, a 202 Dodge Charger SXT and a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu.
